The Manhattans Win 2011 Mosier Cup!

Marina Sailing Racers

This past Saturday, December 3rd the Marina Sailing Racers gathered in Long Beach for the 2011 Mosier Cup Series Finale. The Teams participating were the Musketeers onboard Turkana; the Manhattans onboard Delfina; The CutThroats onboard Wizard; the Keel Haulers onboard Quiver, and the Blue Dogs onboard Arrow.

It was a sunny, cool, December day with the fierce Santa Ana winds of a day earlier evaporated and missing, as we had to delay the start of the race until a sea breeze came in. The fleet started at noon and we all headed up to the first mark. Rounding first was Quiver, followed by Wizard, Arrow, Delfina, and Turkana. On the next leg Arrow passed Wizard and Quiver & Arrow sailed away to have their own race. Meanwhile Wizard led out Delfina, and Turkana for the rest of the race; and that was the way they crossed the line After handicap adjustments the Winner was Arrow, closely followed by Quiver in Second. In Third was Turkana, in Fourth was Delfina, and winning a bottle of bubbly was Wizard. Congratulations to the Blue Dogs onboard Arrow for their victory in the race.

Congratulations go out to The Manhattans for winning the 2011 Mosier Cup.

We all then headed up to 33 Degrees Harbor Pub and celebrated the race and Series victories for the year; and a good time was had by all. Congratulations go to The Manhattans, the First Place winners for the Series. In Second Place were The CutThroats. In Third Place were The Musketeers. In Fourth Place were The Blue Dogs. And in Fifth Place were The Keel Haulers. A special thanks to Gary, & the Long Beach crew for great hospitality, and a fine series ending post race celebration.

Many thanks go out to each of the skippers and all of the crew for your participation, and support of our racing program. And special thanks to Chris Mosier, Gary Gilpin, and all the Marina Sailing staff for your sponsorship and allowing us to enjoy our sport.
