Newport to Ensenada Race Recap

Several Marina Sailing yachts entered the annual Newport to Ensenada Race, the largest yacht race in the world. Many nationally and internationally known skippers sail this race, including the four-time America’s Cup winner Dennis Conner aboard the famed Stars & Stripes.

Congratulations go out to the owner of the Hunter 376 Aegean out of Redondo Beach, Theo Mavromatis, who won his class both in time and corrected time! He also finished just four minutes behind Dennis Conner aboard his America's Cup Defender Stars & Stripes! Quiver, our Beneteau 46 out of Long Beach, crossed the finish line first in her class skippered by Jim Updike, however finished 16th due to time corrections. The Catalina 34 Getaway placed 3rd in the Cruz GC class.

Other notable finishes include Arrow, the Benetau 10R, skippered by Marina Sailing racers Keener and Kuslits, finished 4th in the Sprit B class. Our Catalina 400 Reflections finished 5th with Sid Britton at the helm, and the Hunter 41DS Morning Star finished 10th in the Cruz GB class skippered by Richard Harris. Owner Gary Green, aboard Green Dragon, the Catalina 380, finished 11th in the Cruz SA class.

The 104/106 trip aboard the Beneteau 423 Delfina, skippered and instructed by Captain Dan Dennis, crossed the finish line 4th in-class, however finished 23rd with time corrections.
