Marina Sailing’s Shared-Ownership Program

Many people have found membership in Marina Sailing the perfect alternative to boat ownership and a great way to
gain experience and training. With offices in six harbors on the California coast from Channel Islands Harbor to San
Diego and a fleet of over 95 sail and power boats available for charter, at reduced rates. Marina Sailing’s members
have found the flexibility and variety of experience offered a good fit for their Southern California lifestyle.

Marina Sailing, to further enhance our service to the sailing community is now offering a new program, the Shared-
Ownership Program. For those looking for something more, perhaps a greater commitment to the sailing lifestyle, or
maybe that perfect boat to look forward to spending time on.

The new 42’ 2007 Jeanneau Deck Salon yacht “Come Away With Me” has been chosen as our first offering for Marina
Sailing’s new Shared-Ownership program. When you tour this new yacht and see how it is equipped and find the
attention to detail present, even when you lift up hatches and crawl under things, the most discriminating sailor will be pleased. But that is just the beginning to this yacht’s story. This boat is designed as an “owner’s yacht”, that is, with a large owner’s cabin across the stern with large bath and a second private cabin with bath in the bow. The pictures and captions in this brochure gives an indication to the attention we’ve paid to outfitting this boat with every option available on a modern sailing yacht, most owners only dream about. You can also take a closer look on the web at www.jeanneauamerica.com. "Come Away With Me" is currently being commissioned and is expected to be available for viewing by the end of May.

From enjoying sunsets in the cockpit with its large teak table and LED lighting, From enjoying the climate controlled
cabins, watching movies on the flat screen TVs with surround sound system in both the main salon and owners’ cabin, to taking hot showers with plenty of water, this yacht will offer you all the amenities and comforts available, whether spending the night in the slip at Marina del Rey or at a remote island anchorage. While reaching across the Santa Barbara Channel with the Sun Odyssey 42 DS cutting into the sea with its modern deep bulbed-keel holding you steadily on course, while the aggressive sail plan powers you on your way, while the modern hull and excellent balance ably and comfortably plies the seas, this yacht will thrill you and comfort you like no other. This yacht’s many and redundant systems are met to enable the experienced sailor, and his crew, to experience all the adventure offered by Southern California’s Channel Islands while enjoying all the amenities that can be offered on a modern cruising yacht.

Marina Sailing is offering this new program to allow those who may be considering purchasing a new sailing yacht a
compelling alternative. A maximum of only eight owner-shares will be offered who will have sole and unlimited access
to this yacht on a daily basis, when not reserved, and the ability to reserve up to 42 days a year months in advance.

A special portal on Marina Sailing’s web site (www.marinasailing.com) will give you access to a reservation calendar
where you can check for availability or to reserve your allocated and guaranteed schedule time aboard, months in
advance. Marina Sailing will manage this yacht and maintain it so each share owner can spend his sailing time,
sailing or relaxing aboard, and we’ll take care of the details of yacht management.

Larger sailboats, with all the extras, are an expensive and time consuming undertaking and are simply out-of-reach for most. From making the initial down payment, to paying the monthly mortgage, to dealing with the monthly
progression of bills, to doing yacht maintainence, owning a yacht can be challenging. Slip fees, insurance, property
taxes, bottom cleaning are just the basics that must be paid every month to keep the boat in the water, whether you use it or not. The additional chore of keeping the boat clean, both inside and out, finding the right mechanic, boat yard, technician, to fix things that aren’t working properly can become time consuming and stressful and detract from your time on the boat – the main reason you wanted to buy a boat in the first place. Marina Sailing’s Shared-Ownership program will let you enjoy the benefits without the challenges of yacht ownership.

Scheduling Time on Your Yacht

  1. As a share owner you always have access to your yacht, when no other share-owner has it reserved. Any
reservation made after 12: 00 noon on the day before the day of use is not deducted from your allocated and
    guaranteed schedule time.

  2. New share-owners are allocated two months of schedule time upon initiation into the program. One ownershare is allocated and guaranteed 3.5 schedule days each month (2.5 weekdays and 1 weekend day). This fractional time structure allows up to 8 owner-shares equitable access to scheduling time. An individual shareowner may elect to subscribe to more than one owner-share. Reservations made under rule #1 are exempt and not counted.

  3. Marina Sailing’s Share-Ownership program is structured on a rolling quarter basis. Share-owners are allowed
to accumulate up to 3-months of schedule time, for a total of 10.5 days, and have access to three months at a time on the internet based scheduling calendar. Share-owners pay for their ownership-share(s) on a monthly basis, starting on the month following initiation into the program. Upon receipt of each month’s payment, 3.5 days, representing the following month’s schedule time is added to the share-owner’s time counter. Time on the counter, no matter which month it comes from, can be used in either the current month or the following two months. This feature allows maximum flexibility in scheduling your sailing times.

  4. Guaranteed schedule time is tracked on an electronic counter for each owner-share. Each month 3.5 days of
guaranteed schedule time is added to the counter. The counter has a limit of 10.5 days. This is to prevent any one owner-share from accumulating enough schedule time to dominate the forward calendar, excluding the other owner-shares fair access to the scheduling calendar. Any previously allocated time that has not been scheduled, which would cause the counter to go over 10.5 days, would automatically become expired. This cap of 3-months of schedule time (3.5 days/mo. x 3 months = 10.5 days) and access to three months of the scheduling calendar at a time is the basis of Marina Sailing’s rolling quarter shared-ownership program.

  5. A second constraint is the limit on an owner-share to a maximum of 7-days scheduled in any one month,
either consecutively or separately (days scheduled under rule#1 are exempt and not counted). This will allow the possibility of 8 owner-shares having a complete week scheduled once every two months. While not allowing any one owner-share to dominate the calendar in any one month.

  6. A third constraint is set on Friday-Saturday combinations. Friday is normally considered a weekday.
However, a Friday-Saturday combination can be scheduled only once in any two-month period by any one ownershare. This constraint allows each of the 8 owner-shares fair access to this most popular schedule time.(again any Friday scheduled after noon on Thursday would fall under rule# 1 and not be counted)

  7. Marina Sailing may reserve time at its discretion to perform yacht maintenance services. Also the scheduling
rules may be changed at any time by a committee of Chris Mosier, Gary Gilpin and Tom Cole if any anomalies or
    unfairness are encountered.

  8. Schedule time can be made either through the online share-owner portal or by calling or visiting Marina Sailing’s Marina del Rey office (310-822-6617).

  9. Check into Marina Sailing’s Marina del Rey office on the day you have scheduled sailing time for your yacht
    and marina access keys.

  10. Upon your return from sailing, return your access keys to the office and drop off your checklist and report
anything that needs to be fixed.

  11. A sailing day runs from 8:00AM on the day scheduled to 8:00AM the following day. A half sailing day only
applies to weekdays and runs from 12:00 noon to sunset.

  12. Allow enough time to remove from your yacht anything you brought onto it and clean up the inside and hose
down the outside so it is ready for use by the next share-owner. Marina Sailing only cleans your yacht twice a
month. If due to special circumstances you feel your yacht needs special attention notify the Marina del Rey office so they can arrange it.
